Farm Specialist

Selma, OR Permanent Position

The Zoë Therapeutics Farm Specialist (FS) Team plans, organizes and implements all aspects of the farm operations and special projects. Usually, but not necessarily, FS prospects have pre-established skills and experience in electrical, irrigation, mechanical, HVAC, construction, or other trades.

Effective and efficient FS functionality is of primary importance to the success of Zoë Therapeutics.  This essential position supports all departments of the farm including Cultivation and Production. The FS Team conducts maintenance on all equipment, plans/prices special building projects, maintains grounds and supports speciality trade jobs with 3rd party contractors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Be versed in all aspects of farm maintenance that maintenance, production and workflow.

Follow (and offer suggestions for improvements for) SOP’s, systems, maintenance schedules, and processes. Stay focused on consistency.

Accomplish daily, weekly, and yearly routines consistently.

Work with a team mentality and follow direction from FSM, OM, and other members of the management team.

Learn terminology across departments that you will support.

Communicate and oversee labor forces or 3rd parties groups to accomplish projects.

Ensure and anticipate that sufficient resources and materials are available to successfully complete each task and reach goals BEFORE projects begin.

Assist with IPM protocols treating diseases and fertigation of plants under care/supervision of the Cultivation management team.

Care for plants within Cultivation spaces, as assigned, including weekend and holiday coverage.

Follow operational SOPs, policies, and procedures to maintain a legal, safe, effective, and successful working environment.

Assist in training new/junior FS on SOPs and protocols to ensure excellent quality assessment and quality control outcomes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift 50lbs and perform intensive manual labor.

Cultivation Tech

Selma, OR Permanent Position

Effective and efficient Cultivation operations supporting production are of primary importance to the success of Zoë Therapeutics. The Zoë Therapeutics Cultivation Technician (CT) assists in all Cultivation activities including but not limited to, propagating, transplanting, watering, fertigation, pruning, trellising, production, monitoring pH and EC, and scouting and mitigating pests and diseases, monitoring environmental conditions, and observing and reporting on plant health.

The Cultivation Technician reports to the Flower Space Cultivation Lead and/or the Vegetative/Clone Room Lead and also to the Director of Cultivation (DC). The CT is an essential assistive position helping to ensure that daily, weekly and longer-term production goals are met within Cultivation. The Cultivation Technician receives a twice annual review with an initial review at 3 months after hiring. The CT is provided with a 3 to 6-month Work Plan that outlines specific goals and milestones for the CT and this Work Plan is the subject of the biannual reviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Each work day, the CT is assigned to various tasks within Cultivation. CTs may be asked to provide up-to-date information on conditions and progress, observe work being done, inspect plants for health, diseases and pests, verify operations, and to evaluate plant and soil conditions. These tasks may include:

Monitoring facilities and/or operational systems.

Communicating any needs and/or deficiencies that may impact the work being performed and the schedule for completion. Use Slack to communicate internally.

Remain current and knowledgeable about all Cultivation SOP’s and protocols. Bring and discuss ideas and information on Cultivation practices to the DC and the CMiT so that Zoë can adopt and modify its practices to be best in industry.

Assist with fertigation, irrigation, plant nutrient equipment and the safe handling, maintenance, and storage of pest and disease control chemicals, nutrients, and plant care equipment.

Be alert to issues and problems within all facilities and equipment for signs of wear, malfunction, abnormal function, and disrepair. Communicate any issues immediately via Slack.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift 50lbs and perform manual labor.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Comfortable with working 12 hour days when needed.

Assisting with managing plant health within Cultivation spaces include executing effective IPM protocols to monitor, identify, mitigate, anticipate and eliminate diseases and pest problems following guidelines and compliance within the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) and the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) Pesticides Program.

EXPERIENCE

Experience: Direct commercial nursery or Cannabis production or horticultural experience a plus.

Specific Skills: Good communication skills, proven ability to comfortably work alone or in groups. Plant care experience a plus.

Personal Characteristics: High level of motivation and willingness to learn. Attention to detail, careful time planner, good observer, trustworthy, dedicated, passionate for the work, self-motivated, works well with others.

Licenses/OLCC permit: Must have an active Oregon Liquor Control Commission Marijuana Worker Permit or ready to apply for one.
